Hey Lady #6: Yayoi Kusama

Hey Lady #6: Yayoi Kusama

Issue 6 of HEY LADY features Yayoi Kusama (b. 1929), the Japanese artist famous for her obsession with painting polka dots. She moved to New York in 1957 and became one of the most well known and frequently exhibited artists of all time. Her autobiography, Infinity Net, is a detailed portrait of her struggles, successes and philosophies. For the last forty years, she has been voluntarily living and working in a mental institution in Japan. The documentary, I Love Me, is a glimpse into her current art practice and impenetrable world of confidence and beauty she lives in.
